KALOZIN, a São Carlos-born, Berlin-based producer, DJ, and performer, makes experimental music blending Latin American sounds with decolonial, weird, and boundary-pushing influences. They host a monthly show on Cashmere Radio exploring these themes.
KALOZIN are an artist born in São Carlos, Brazil, based in Berlin. They have been working mainly with performance and experimental music for more than 15 years and was a member of the legendary experimental music group Keroøàcidu Suäväk. Their music explores layered weird percussion using samples and effects processors to wave together sounds from diverse Brazilian’s music influences. Their current work explores the use of unique costumes and motion sensors from Wii controllers on their body to activate sounds through movement; followed by compositions inspired by contemporary Brazilian electronic rhythms sampled from a Yamaha SX700/s670, arranger keyboards famous in the interior of Brazil, especially among players of Pisadinha, Forro, Arrocha, Brega Funk etc. They have a monthly radio program focused on experimental music from Latin America and decolonial immigrant perspectives on Cashemere Radio Berlin. Have released albums/songs on Pampsychia records (Italy), Nonlocal Research (Chile/ Brussels), CLAM (Italy),PhoBho record (Italy), a cassete tape by Kinship records (Germany), Kimuso records (São Paulo), Voodoohop (Brazil) and collaborations on ESP Institute (USA), Chill Mountain (Japan) and El Folclore Paradox (Japan).
